Privacy

Fallow Year is a private diagnostic. The short version: you can complete the diagnostic and read your whole reflection without telling us who you are, and your individual answers are only kept if you tick a box saying we may keep them.

What we always collect

• Your answers to the four situation questions and the statements, reduced to a summary of where you fall on each of the seven dimensions.
• That summary is stored under a random, unguessable identifier — the one in your results-page URL. It is not linked to a name or an email address unless you later give us one.

What we collect only if you ask for it

If you use the “email me a copy” form on your results page, we store the email address and optional first name you enter, so we can send that email and so we can honour a later deletion request. We also store whether you ticked the box agreeing to occasional updates. Giving us an address is entirely optional and happens after you have already seen your full reflection — nothing is withheld pending it.

What we collect only with your explicit consent

Before you see your reflection we ask whether we may store your individual answers — each statement and the number you selected — as part of a pilot dataset. We use these to test whether the questions actually measure what we think they measure: reliability of each dimension, whether the seven dimensions hold up, and where the bands should sit.

• If you leave that box unticked, your individual answers are not stored at all — only the summary described above.
• If you tick it, those answers are stored against the same random identifier, not against your name or email.
• Ticking it changes nothing about the reflection you are shown, and it is not a condition of using anything on this site.
• We do not sell this data, and we do not share it for advertising.

What we never collect

• Your company name.
• Your exact income or net worth.
• Medical history or mental-health diagnoses.
• Free-text answers of any kind.

Analytics and cookies

We use privacy-friendly analytics to count page views and see which pages people read — Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not build a cross-site profile of you. If product analytics (PostHog) is enabled on this deployment it records event names and page paths only. We never send your answers, your reflection, or your email address to any analytics service, and we set no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Your results page

Your results page is set to “noindex” and uses an unguessable identifier, so it is not indexed by search engines or publicly discoverable. Anyone who has the link can view it, so treat it as you would any private link.

Where your data lives

Data is stored in Supabase (Postgres) and the site is hosted on Vercel. Email, if you request a copy, is sent via Resend. Each of these processes data on our behalf, and each may store it outside your country.

Access and deletion

To request a copy of your data or its deletion, contact us at hello@fallowyear.com. If you gave us an email address, quote it. If you did not, send the link to your results page — that identifier is the only way we can find your record, and without it we genuinely cannot identify you.
